| Description: | Under general direction, develops and maintains procedures to insure accurate processing and distribution of Carl Zeiss Vision payroll. Coordinates and provides support for payroll-related activities, including supervising payroll staff and maintaining contacts with other Carl Zeiss Vision departments, external auditors, and state and federal agencies. |
| Duties: | • Directs and assists in the preparation, distribution, and accounting of employee payroll
• Establishes and maintains payroll records
• Researches and reconciles payroll related problems
• Manage bi-monthly, multi-state, payroll processing function (1,000 + employees)
• Recommends strategic and tactical process improvements, to assure that employees receive authorized pay rates and deductions in an accurate and timely manner, and that records are accurately and securely maintained
• Prepare reports summarizing payroll, deductions, withholding, sick leave, vacations and associated company benefits
• Audits payroll summaries, bank balances, labor and wage reports
• Provides special payroll and deduction information and assistance as required
• Maintains internal procedures to assure that employees receive authorized pay rates and deductions
• Interact with employees regarding payroll information, including researching and responding to payroll related questions
• Coordinates payroll functions with other departments such as Human Resources, and with outside agencies
• Interviews, recommends for hire, and trains payroll staff as needed
• Conducts performance reviews, counsels, and initiates corrective action for employees in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain training on all current laws and regulations
• Prepares and reviews all Payroll Journal entries
• Completes Monthly Reconciliation of Payroll General Ledger Accounts
• Manages ad-hoc projects
• Performs additional tasks as required |
| Qualifications: | Requires five years payroll/accounting or equivalent experience; an undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or the equivalent; and a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Minimum three years management/supervisory experience. Payroll experience with a large company (1000 + employees).
Strong knowledge of federal, state and local laws and other regulations related to payroll processing and labor law. Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving, supervision, computer, and analytical skills are necessary. Knowledge of automated payroll systems (i.e., ADP) and system interfaces is highly desirable. Experience with multi-state payroll highly desired.
