Lab Manager (SW)

Description:The Lab Manager will be accountable for service, quality, cost management, and leadership of operational functions for the Laboratory, located in Tempe, AZ. This position will support three critical initiatives: a) ensuring high quality and service levels are achieved & maintained b) growing lab sales and profitability and c) solidifying our position as an industry leader in optics. This position will be responsible for the entire Rx facility

Duties:• Focus operating efforts against measurable performance requirements and financial targets, ensuring that the company is maintaining a highly responsive customer approach with extraordinary service and quality.
• Increase the profitability and growth of the Lab
• Maintain a team-oriented working environment that promotes open discussion on important issues, a high level of personal commitment and accountability to the business, and a continued focus on profitability, quality and customer service.
• Measure, monitor, and improve performance of the ophthalmic laboratory operations and customer service.
• Play an important role in developing and maintaining the company’s image and reputation in the marketplace.
• Hire, develop, motivate and retain a first-rate management team to execute operational and profit strategies.
• Maintains a “helicopter view” of the operations but also keeps an eye on daily issues in the Lab.
• Oversees the development of strategic plans and budgets for the Lab.
• Foster an environment of training & development, to allow continuous career growth within our organization.
• Capable of identifying areas of the lab processes which are not performing to standard and addressing & developing the necessary root-cause analyses and permanent corrective actions.
• 5S & TPM understanding with demonstrated implementation experience would be beneficial.
Qualifications:• Undergraduate degree, MBA a plus.
• Outstanding management and organizational skills
• A proven track record of recruiting and building A class teams
• A proven track record of successful Rx or operations management with P&L responsibility for an operation with revenues of $20 + million
• 5+ years of management experience, preferably in ophthalmic lab, pharmaceutical, medical devices, or wholesale product channels.
• Strong technical and business judgment.
• Strong planning and implementation skills.
• The proven builder of business operations in a highly competitive environment.
• Strong financial and business acumen and a "will to win."
• LEAN and Six Sigma Background
